about

‘Bourdain’ is the follow-up release to November’s critically acclaimed debut single ‘Buddhist Monk’. That track, which Joshi discussed with The Lutonian, told the story of the self-immolation of Thich Quang Duc, who sacrificed himself in protest of the persecution of his fellow Buddhists in 1963 Vietnam.

"Much like its predecessor, ‘Bourdain’ musically delivers snarl, thrash, grit, and a flair for storytelling through sound – crafting an unignorable elixir of thoughtfulness and raw energy." - The Lutonian

"It’s a short, sharp blast of industrial / punk crossover that also nabs elements of 90s noise – the dingy riffery and bending blasts of feedback are reminiscent of not just the obvious grunge reference points, heavier and lesser-known acts like Pitch Shifter and Fudge Tunnel, and equally, this sprawling, abrasive sonic attack hints at the kind of nihilistic fury of the likes of Uniform." - Aural Aggravation

lyrics

Friday night, Brooklyn
At a trendy speakeasy
$5 shakes!
Got Travolta acting sleazy

Old-fashioned habits die hard
Our old-fashioned habits die hard, die hard!

No pain!
No gain!
Add a pinch of Cobain, add a dash of Coltrane

No pain!
No gain!
Take a sip for my friend, Bourdain!

Making ends meet
Tastes bittersweet
Losing my teeth
Al fresco kleptocracy

Old-fashioned habits die hard
Our old-fashioned habits die hard, die hard!

No pain!
No gain!
Take a sip for my friend

Blessed is he
Who in the name of charity and goodwill
Shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness
For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
